Read the review first...

There is no way that a hand can move the bristles of a toothbrush 30.000 times a minute. And it does make a difference, just like cleaning the floor with a vacuum machine is way much better than using a broom.

If you have never tried an electric toothbrush you would not know the difference. We are not talking about the cheap electric toothbrushes which cost a few dollars and which give some motion to the brush head. Even here there are some which perform quite well. I'm referring to the electric toothbrushes which are rechargeable, which come with a charger stand.

If you have used one of those, you know what we are talking about. Once you tried it, you will never go back to manual toothbrushing again. It’s just not possible unless you have no other choice.

It takes some time to get used to it. There might be an initial shock because of the sound and tiny vibration but very soon they will not bother you anymore.

Factors To Consider When Buying An Electric Toothbrush

Cost

We would have thought that using an electric toothbrush would entail a lot more expenses.

Surprisingly it doesn’t. It does initially cost more to buy the electric toothbrush and the heads are much more expensive.

However if you are using a manual toothbrush the bristles get deformed very easily because of the wide brushing movements and you might have to change the toothbrush every month or 2.

For an electric toothbrush there is no such wide movement. The bristles vibrate or rotate and they do not get deformed as quick. It might take about 6 months or more to get the same deformation.

If a good manual toothbrush costs about $3, it means it will cost you about $36 a year if you change it every month to get the optimal brushing.

An electric toothbrush head costs between $4 to $12 depending on the model used.

The cost would amount between $8 to $24 if the head is changed every 6 months. Even if it is changed every 4 months, it would amount between $12 to $36.

So the cost would be about the same in worst case scenario. We have also to bear in mind that a deformed bristle from an electric toothbrush head will still perform better than from a manual one purely because of its high pulsation or rotation.

With an electric toothbrush you would use less toothpaste. Because of the size of the head it is not possible to put too much toothpaste. Yet it cleans very well with that little amount. So you would save money in that area too. However we recommend using the best toothpastes since the expense is very little considering it will take quite some time to finish a tube.

But the greatest saving would be in the dentist costs. Less teeth need to be extracted or repaired. Your gum would recede less. Your visit to the dentist would be less frequent. One visit costs more than an electric toothbrush. Anyway, this is just my view of the whole toothbrush thing!
